BAHAWALPUR: A young shepherd has died after allegedly being abducted, sexually assaulted, and tortured by a group of 12 men in Pakistan’s Cholistan desert, according to police. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and renewed calls for stronger protection of children and vulnerable communities in remote areas.

Victim Found After Days Missing

According to police, the victim went missing on July 1 while grazing more than 40 sheep near Toba Jinnawala, Chak 289/HR in the Cholistan region. His family searched for him for several days before his brother found him on July 9 in a severely injured and traumatized condition.

The victim was immediately shifted to Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH), where he later died during treatment.

Victim Allegedly Described the Assault

Investigators said the victim told family members that he had been lured away on a motorcycle, drugged, repeatedly sexually assaulted over several days, and robbed of his flock before being abandoned.

Police have stated that these allegations are part of the ongoing investigation and will be examined alongside forensic and medical evidence.
