Waqar Zaka Wins Global Trading Contest

Pakistani technology entrepreneur and cryptocurrency advocate Waqar Zaka has claimed victory in the WEEX Master TradFi Competition, an international solo trading tournament featuring more than 3,000 participants from across the globe. His first-place finish earned him a brand-new 2026 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, presented in Dubai after the competition.

The event challenged traders to compete using their own funds while trading multiple financial markets, including cryptocurrencies, stocks, gold, silver, and commodities. Unlike many online trading competitions, there were no teams, referrals, or promotional activities involved. Success depended entirely on each participant’s trading strategy, risk management, and overall profitability.

Outstanding Performance Against Global Competitors

Each finalist managed a trading account worth US$100,000 throughout the 20-day competition.

Waqar Zaka delivered the tournament’s strongest performance by achieving a remarkable 74% return, generating US$74,000 in profit and increasing his account value to US$174,000.

The trader from South Korea secured second place with a 57% return, while a competitor from China finished third after posting a 35% gain.

This marks the first time a Pakistani trader has won an international multi-asset online trading competition of this scale.

From Eighth Place to Champion

Waqar Zaka had previously participated in a similar global tournament, finishing eighth. During this year’s contest, he initially ranked fourth before climbing to the top of the leaderboard with consistent profits across multiple markets.

His ability to trade both traditional financial assets and cryptocurrencies proved to be the deciding factor in securing first place.

Recognition Beyond Cryptocurrency

Waqar Zaka is widely recognized in Pakistan as one of the country’s earliest cryptocurrency educators and advocates.

He has also worked with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government, where he was officially appointed to assist with cryptocurrency and blockchain-related initiatives.

Over the years, he has promoted digital assets through educational content, live trading sessions, and discussions on blockchain technology.

Early Advocate of a National Bitcoin Reserve

Following his latest victory, many social media users have revisited Waqar Zaka’s long-standing proposal that Pakistan should establish a national Bitcoin reserve.

For years, Zaka argued that the government should purchase Bitcoin as a strategic national asset, suggesting that its long-term appreciation could help reduce Pakistan’s national debt and lessen dependence on the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

His proposal has recently gained renewed attention as similar ideas have been discussed internationally, including by U.S. President Donald Trump, who has publicly supported the concept of maintaining a strategic Bitcoin reserve.

Promoting Bitcoin Since 2016

Waqar Zaka began publicly promoting Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in 2016, when Bitcoin traded at approximately US$268.

Through YouTube videos and television appearances, he educated audiences about blockchain technology, cryptocurrency investing, and financial markets.

In 2017, he became one of Pakistan’s first content creators to broadcast live cryptocurrency trading sessions, demonstrating market analysis and disciplined risk management during periods of extreme volatility.

Legal Battle for Cryptocurrency in Pakistan

Zaka also became a leading figure in Pakistan’s cryptocurrency legal debate.

In 2019, he personally filed Constitutional Petition No. 7146 of 2019 before the Sindh High Court, challenging regulatory uncertainty surrounding digital assets.

He represented himself during proceedings that continued for nearly two years. The case contributed to important judicial clarification regarding the authority of the State Bank of Pakistan and the legal status of cryptocurrency-related activities.

Following changes in government, legal proceedings initiated against him were later withdrawn, and he was discharged by the court.

Blockchain for Humanitarian Work

Beyond trading, Waqar Zaka has promoted blockchain technology for humanitarian purposes.

He has documented visits to Rohingya Muslim refugee communities, explaining how cryptocurrency and blockchain could be used to provide transparent and direct financial assistance to vulnerable populations.

His efforts demonstrated practical applications of blockchain beyond investment and speculation.

Stanford Business Education

Waqar Zaka holds a background in civil engineering and later pursued entrepreneurship and business education at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Unlike many cryptocurrency influencers who focus primarily on displaying luxury lifestyles, Zaka frequently encourages young Pakistanis to pursue higher education at globally recognized institutions such as Stanford, Harvard, Oxford, and Cambridge.

He also documented his academic experience at Stanford, offering viewers insights into university life, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

A Landmark Achievement for Pakistan

Waqar Zaka’s victory in the WEEX Master TradFi Competition represents a significant milestone for Pakistan’s growing presence in international financial markets.

His success highlights the increasing importance of disciplined trading, data-driven decision-making, and effective risk management in modern digital finance. Alongside his work in cryptocurrency education, legal advocacy, and blockchain innovation, the achievement further strengthens his reputation as one of Pakistan’s most influential figures in the cryptocurrency and fintech space.
